  1. Is there really a sanskrit word for network? It seems like such a modern word. On the other hand a community is a kind of network and communities have existed for thousands of years so why shouldn't an old language have a word for a type of interconnectedness.

  2. Actually, there was no entry in my English to Sanskrit dictionary for "network."

    However, many words in Sanskrit are composed of smaller words linked together as one word (sacchidananda is a good example, it means "the nature of reality," which is composed of sat=truth + cit=consciousness + ananda=bliss).

    So to make the word "network," I combined the word for "net" (which *was* in my dictionary) with a word for "work": jalama+karman=jalamakarman!
