  2. I am having trouble.. No not trouble. I am not sure how to proceed. Do I need a full understanding of what I have read to continue on? Or should I read the whole book?

    1. Hi Carl,

The Bhagavad Gita is the kind of layered text that usually requires a long-term investment of time and energy to study and understand deeply. Don't expect to glean everything -- or even anything -- very quickly. Read multiple translations; every translator "spins" the text to his/her worldview, which is perfectly aligned with the way Sanskrit works as a strong and flexible language to transmit spiritual wisdom across millennia and continents.

I highly recommend translations that also contain commentaries on the text. "Bhagavad Gita: Annotated and Explained," Translated by Shri Purohit Swami, Annotations by Kendra Burroughs is one of my favorites.
