It's been brought to my attention that I misspelled the name of the marvelous University in Indiana that was kind enough to offer me a scholarship to go there: it's PURDUE, not Perdue. Thanks to Mary Corsaro for pointing this out. It's especially delightful and ironic because Mary, as my dance teacher in college, was one of the pivotal reasons I passed on Purdue's generosity, stayed at SUNY-Binghamton... and after many years am now writing these posts!
